About me

I have been passionate about all things film & media for over 30 years. Over that time there have been huge changes in the way films and media are presented and distributed. Social media has been around in different forms since the birth of email.

I might seem to be overly critical about the state of the film industry but as one who has spent the last 25+ years talking and working within it am very passionate about it and it saddens me there are so many people that seem to be in denial because box office keeps increasing every year, but only need to see the growth of streaming over the last decade to see this isn’t the case. While people will always go to the cinema to see the big event movies, cinema used to be and should still be more than that.

Don’t have access to any of the ComScore data apart from what’s freely available online the rest is pulled together from hours of online research and industry knowledge built up over almost 30 years. From reading Screen International, Variety and Hollywood Reporter from to back weekly going to Wardour Street News to buy them every week to the many other film, broadcast and media magazines that have been around over the years are many that have come and gone like independent distributors.

Worked for 9 years as a projectionist in preview theatres at Rank Film Distributors and 20th Century Fox. Probably easier to let Tyler Durden explain from here about cigarette burns.

These two sets of cue dots were at the end of the reel every four dots or slashes over four frames with the picture going 24 frames a second blink and you will miss them, was always scary waiting to wonder if you just missed it or went to early or went to late, but of course, now all of that is no more with digital, which was meant to give top quality presentation in cinemas everywhere, but there are still the haves and have nots with quality cinema presentation.

I decided to start my blog as I realised that 140 characters are not enough to express my thoughts about things so my blog will be all about my thoughts on social media, film and anything else that makes me think.

    1. Did think so as on paper it should do original film took almost $1bn worldwide 25 years ago ticket inflation is about 200% since and with the addition of China..
Will have much longer legs than Endgame as despite reviews audiences are lemmings when it comes to Disney reimaginations and will still go to see it
